2 cups. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk
1. sift together dry ingredients
2. cut in the shortening to the dry ingredients with a pastry blender
3. Make a well in the dry ingredients and add milk. Stir only till all dry ingredients are moistened.
4. Turn dough out onto floured counter. Knead gently 6 times.
5. Roll dough to a rectangle 1/4 inch thick
6. Brush with 2 Tbsp. melted butter.
7. Sprinkle with mixture of 1/4 cup sugar
8. Roll up like a jelly roll; pinch edges together and shape to an even roll.
9. Cut in 1 inch slices.
10. Place biscuits close together, cut side up.
11. Brush top with melted butter.
12. Bake at 450 degrees for 15 min. or until golden brown.
