Donuts


1 3/4c. sifted flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. lemon extract
1 egg
1/3 c. milk

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 3/4 c. flour, 1 T. oil, sugar, baking powder, spices egg and milk, Mix thoroughly
2. GRADUALLY add remaining flour, stirring till smooth.
3. Turn dough onto generously floured board, rolling to 3/8 inch thickness.
4. Cut with floured cutter. Fry in 375 degrees oil, a few at a time, 3 to 4 minutes, turning once.
5. Carefully remove with slotted spoon. Drain on paper towels. Coat with cinnamon sugar or pwdered sugar. If you would like to froast them take powdered sugar and mix it with water stirring constantly to thick.

Frying Safety
1. never cover pan when heating oil.
2. Never leave hot oil unattended
3. Lower food carefully into hot oil
4. If oil starts to smoke, your temp. is too high
