1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 T. water
1/3 cup chocolate bits
1/4 cup nuts ( walnuts)
1. Heat butter, sugar, and water in a large, heavy skillet.
2. Cook over medium high heat and stir constantly for about 10 minutes or until mixture reches 295 degrees.
3. At this point the mixture will thicken, change color to tannish, and smell like it is beginning to burn.
4. Pour onto buttered foil.
5. Sprinkle on the chocolate bits; wait two minutes and spread thinly over top of toffee mixture.
6. Sprinkle with chopped nuts.
7. Let sit until the chocolate is no longer wet. Break into bite size pieces.
